A true man of God, called to be a watchman over God's eternal
flock, is not made over-night, but is nurtured, developed, molded,
and groomed by God Himself, and the Lord Jesus Christ, through the
divine power of the Holy Ghost. We are blessed to have such
one: "Our Pastor", Bishop Francis Samuel Myles, Sr.Bishop Myles was born on April 15, 1934 in Washington, D.C.
He is the third child of eight children to the late Mr. John and
Helen Myles. Raised in Maryland, under the guidance of saved
parents, he received his primary and secondary schooling at Ridgley
Elementary and Bates High School, respectively. He would
later return for post-secondary education and receive a master's
equivalency in Horticulture. He has also completed several
courses at the Washington Bible College.
Following the death of his father in 1949, Bishop Myles, at the
age of fifteen, assumed the responsibility of head of the household,
providing for his mother and five younger siblings. The family
was poor, and making a living on a farm was hard work, but the Lord
provided. When the United States Army called for services,
Bishop Myles was exempted because of the great responsibility he had
at home. This too, was in the plan of God, for even then, he
was being prepared for a greater work: to feed the flock of
God's sheep!
After completing his secondary education, Bishop Myles met the
acquaintance of (the Late)
Laura E. Harper, whom he married in August of 1955. She too,
was brought up in the way of Holiness, under parents of strong
faith, who walked uprightly before God. Unto this union were
born four children, Francis Jr., Anthony, Ivin and Lolita.
Missionary Laura E. Myles
Bishop and Sister (Laura) Myles both accepted the Lord early
in their marriage and became diligent workers in the church.
In 1965, Bishop Myles was ordained Deacon. Sister Myles,
although not a Missionary at the time, became involved with the
Missionary Circle, assisting her mother-in-law, (the late)
Missionary Helen Myles (then President of the Circle), by providing
her transportation to various meetings. Bishop and Sister
Myles also served on other auxiliaries: Bishop Myles - President of
the Jubilee Chorus, Vice President of the Young People's Conference;
Sister Myles - member of the Usher Board, Jubilee Chorus, United
Choir, Youth Conference Choir and President of the Missionary
Circle.
In 1970, Bishop Myles was ordained an Elder of the House of
Prayer Church of God, Inc. Shortly after, the late Bishop
James P. Simms asked Elder Myles to pastor the church in Cedar
Heights, Maryland. He obeyed the request of his Bishop, and
along with his family, and less than a hand-full of faithful
members, began to journey, each Wednesday night, to the "little
house the hill" to render services.
In 1974, Bishop James P. Simms, a "Great Man of God, with a
vision", was called home to glory! Elder Myles was then
elected Pastor of the House of Prayer Church of God, No. 1.
On July 27, 1985, "Our Pastor" was ordain Vice Bishop of the
House of Prayer Church of God, Inc. Under the leadership of
this man of "faith and power", the work of the Lord continues to
flourish in the courts of our God. The unadulterated Word
of God has not ceased to go fourth, but is preached with great
power, wisdom, and understanding by "Our Pastor"! As a result,
souls are continually being saved, bodies healed, miracles wrought,
and manifestations of God's power revealed.
"And they shall be mine, faith the Lord of hosts, in that day
when I make up my jewels..." On February 23, 1993, God saw fit to
take to Himself yet another one of His precious jewels, in the
person of Our First Lady (the late) Missionary Laura E. Myles.
Sister Laura Myles epitomized the life of a true
Christian Woman. She was meek and humble in spirit, yet
fearless in her fight against the enemy. She was a true
help-meet to her husband, as God intended, for we are witnesses of
how she stood, always by our Pastor's side. She taught the women to
love and respect their husbands as the head of the household, to
love their children and to train them up in the way they should go,
to honor the leadership and willingly submit to those in authority.
She taught us by showing us. She fought a good fight, she
finished her course and is now gone on to receive her righteous
reward.
Notwithstanding, our Bishop continued on, knowing that the work
of the Lord must not diminish. God, seeing the faithfulness of
His manservant, was also faithful to His own Work and promise that
"...no good thing would he withhold from them who walk(ed) upright".
On April 8, 1995, God blessed our Pastor with yet another precious
jewel - our Sister Janice Myles, "First Lady" of the House of Prayer
Church of God, No. 1 A woman of many Godly qualities, one
quality shines brightest in the character of Sister Janice Myles - that of a meek, quiet and humble spirit. As a result, God has
highly exalted her among women and has given her favor in the eyes
of all the people.

Elect Lady Janice Myles
Sister Myles is also a diligent worker in
the house of the Lord. She's a member of the Jubilee Chorus,
Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School and a Sunday School
Teacher.
On January 9, 1999, in favor with God and the Church, Bishop
Myles was consecrated as Presiding Prelate and General Overseer of
the House of Prayer Church of God, Inc.
The work of the Lord has continued to flourish under the
leadership of our Pastor, Bishop Myles. The Lord continues to
bless our new radio ministry, "God's Word of Power for the Hour".
